AT THE BASE OF THE “Z” SHAPED MERCEDES HOUSE BUILDING, TWO CONCRETE CIRDERS WERE DESGINED TO SUPPORT A 60 FT X 70 FT COLUMN FREE SPACE FOR HORSES TO LIVE IN THAT WOULD MIMIC A BARNSTABLE. THIS REQUIRED AN INTRICATE AND EXTENSIVE VENTILATION SYSTEM, A MODERN HAYLOFT, AS WELL AS DESIGNATED SPACE FOR A LARGE FOOD SUPPLY TO MINIMZE DELIVERIES AND HORSESHOE SMITHY. THE MOUNTED UNIT TRANSFERRED ITS HEADQUARTERS, A DOZEN HORSES, AND AROUND 20 OFFICERS INTO THE NEW SPACE MAKING A SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP. TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, A LARGE HORSE CORRAL WAS ENGINEERED AT THE FRONT OF THE STABLES TO ALLOW THE PUBLIC VIEWING OF THE HORSES THROUGH A CLERESTORY OF SMALL WINDOWS ALONG THE SIDEWALK.
